Marc Alikaswa 1928 – 2008 Inuit Art Sculpture Figure
Marc Alikaswa is from Arviat which means place of the Bowhead Whale. It is located on the western shore of the Hudson Bay in Kivalliq region of Nunavut Canada.
This piece is carved in the traditional small works style. It depicts a man in an action stance seriously looking forward like a hunter, it is carved out of grey soapstone or steatite, it is signed in syllabic on the bottom. It is a simple and dynamic stylized work. In good condition it measures 4 x 4 inches.
