Papua New Guinea Coconut Bowl Cup Drinking Vessel
This is a piece of Oceanic tribal art, from Papua New Guinea, utilitarian object a bowl or a cup made from a large deep thin coconut. Beautifully and completely carved with repeating swirling cloud wave design. It has a carved hole on one side with a twisted fiber cord for hanging. Early 20th century, in good condition, it measures 5 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall.
