Antique Musical Percussion Kartel Clappers Wooden Cymbals 19th C. INDIA
These are a pair of Kartal Khartal Clappers, hand held wooden cymbals, from India. They are hand carved from wood depicting fish, with beveled brass disks in their mouths. One is a little higher in tone than the other, one is male and one is female, held in each hand with the thumb or finger through the brass ring handle. Used in traditional sacred songs in the 19th century. It each measure 5 ΒΌ x 1 3/8th inches.
