Bidri Ware Mughal Surahi Water Bottle Silver Inlay India
19th Century Bidri Ware water bottle a metal craft from Bidar Karnataka India. It is tediously intricately moulded, filed, designed, engraved, silver inlay, smoothing, buffing, oxidizing, blackened by old black soil or ammonium chloride. It is decorated with an ancient floral design, there is also geometric gold or brass inlay on the bottom. It is made in two pieces. It dates from 1850 or earlier. It could have had a lid. It measures 10 ½ inches tall x 6 ¼ inches wide. The silver contrast against the black is beautiful. It is called a Surahi Water Bottle. It weighs over 1400 grams.
