Inuit Art Eskimo Wood Carving Polar Bear
This piece is unsigned, it is hand carved from a found piece of wood. It is very hard to get wood up north and is found on the beach. It depicts a walking polar bear, a majestic animal. It has been varnished, I date between 1950 – 60, when varnish was popular to use. It has a restoration on the forward back lag, it is under the varnish, I believe it was done when it was made. It is most likely from the Nunavut, Canada. It is an unusual piece. It measures 9 inches long.
