This is a large Sumba Hinggi Ceremonial Ikat cotton woven blanket. Hand woven cotton, with natural dyes, with sacred motifs, of skulls, figures, and animals. The thread are pre dyed, the loom is set up with pre determined pattern. Worn by the men on ceremonial occasions, this one is woven in one panel.
In good condition it measures 90 x 46 inches.
This master work, can used as a tapestry for decorative purposes.
