Description

This is a vintage low grade silver cast and engraved, gemstone and glass set large pin. A tribal piece symbolic of protection. The peacock with full tail feathers up and wings folding down , protecting as it sits on bundle of flowers surrounded by birds. There are two old burgundy tassels, hanging. Worn as a fastener for the beautiful traditional woven shawls. It is made from cast white metal possibly alpaca. There are no marks on this piece. I have seen this type of brooch in collections and museums. Still worn in the Andean Culture on special occasions. It measures 6 inches long, that included the tip of the pin, not the tassels. It weighs 140 grams . Circa  1920 – 50.
