Kauer People Lampung Sumatra Woven Textile w/ Mica Ceremonial Skirt

 

This is an antique ceremonial skirt, known as a Tapis garment, worn by the Kauer People of Lampung district of Sumatra Indonesia. It is finely hand spun and woven silk and cotton, with embroidery, it is woven in two panel that are sewn together. It is enhanced with tiny reflective piece of mica or glass, to give this piece lots of charm. It is in good condition, there are two ghostly spots that show in the photos. It measures 45 x 45 inches.
