Katie Sickles Iroquois Oneida Nation First Nations Ash Splint Basket

This fanciful hand-woven basket is signed by the artist Katie Sickles, a well-known teacher and basket maker from the Oneida Iroquois tribal group near London Ontario. It is made from woven Ash wood splints and sweet grass. It is signed in ink on the bottom. It comes with a written note, saying it was sold at a Pow Wows and from her home. It is lidded with a loop, a gallery of decorative curls. Circa 1980, it measures 5 ½ x 7 inches, in good condition.
