Description

This is a single earring from the late 19thC, made from a gold gilt metal, set with cabochon shaped turquoise stones set in resin. Similar earrings are worn by the higher status women of Lhasa. The bottom drop is in the shape of a lotus blossom budding. They were sometime worn off the headdress near the ears. This one is showing lots of wear, it has a stone on the back too, set with resin pitch. It measures 4 inches long x 1 inch wide.
