Hamatsa Whistle Fort Rupert Keith Hunt Northwest Coast

Fort Rupert is the Northern Tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. This is a red cedar carved double Hamatsa Whistle. Used in the important dance by the Kwakwka’wakw First Nations People. It is a ceremonial instrument, the sound is haunting and fabulous, it is the sound of the “Man Eater of the Woods Baxbakwalnuksiwae”. It is signed “Keith Hunt Fort Rupert BC”, date unknown. The Hunt family is well known for great carvers. It is hand carved, with string whipping, in good condition, it measures 8 inches long x 6 inches wide.
