Haida Totem Pole Beaver Victor Adams
This is an important piece of Haida Art, it is signed on the back with the monogram of Victor Adams with an intertwined “V A”, with a little capital E in the middle. It is a single figure totem of a beaver carved out of a single piece of clear grain yellow cedar. It had been used as a lamp at one time, made for sale, a tourist item. It stands 10 ½ inches tall, the base measures 5 ½ x 6 inches.
This is an original piece of North American First Nations Haida Art, from Masset, Queen Charlotte Islands, Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, Canada. He is the husband of the famous hat maker Primrose Adams. Born 1924, he was a silversmith jewellery maker, carver, canoe maker.
