This is attributed to Elsie Nelson 1944 – 1977 she was from Quatsino Sound, Vancouver Island, Kwakwaka’wakw tribal group. She worked with Pat McGuire and Pat Dixon, you can see their influence in the quality of the work. She did have a mixture of Haida and Kwakwaka’wakw styles. It has a sterling silver plaque on the base, with the monogram initials NE and a partial strike for Sterling. It depicts a Thunderbird/Eagle wearing a potlatch hat with abalone eyes, holding a killer whale  with an abalone fin.

It comes from a collector that gathered First Nations Art in the 1970’s. In good condition it measures 5 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches. NOT for export.
