Description
Canadian Art Edith Mary Windle Oil on Canvas Guernsey-Channel Island
Signed in red in the lower right E.M. Windle, on the reverse it is titled Guernsey-Channel Island Edith Mary Windle. It is painted on Canvas board from the Boots Art Department, oil paint, set behind glass. The glass has kept this canvas clean. The first look, you are amazed at the beautiful blue rugged coastal scene, the brush strokes are strong. It gives you a feeling of the coastline. It is framed in a painted gold wood frame, with numerous nicks along the edges. I did some research Windle, Edith, Mary Gazer 1870 – 1960 was married to Sir Bertram Alan Windle in 1909 and moved to Canada in 1918. I would say this is from 1915.
