Northwest Coast Salish Basket Hearts

This unique basket if from the Fraser River region of British Columbia, a traditional type of cedar made by the Salish Nation. It is made with a bifurcated coil technique, giving it good strength. It is decorated with cherry bark imbrication of HEARTS, red and black. It has a gallery border. This would have been made for tourists and for your sweetheart. In good condition, it has an ink stain on the inside. It measures 8 ¼ inches wide x 4 inches tall, circa 1920 – 40.
