Gold Gilt Blue Enamel Water Jug Kashmir India 19th C.
Made for the European market, this outstanding gold gilt brass with champleve enamel done in Cobalt blue and Persian Turquoise blue. It has chased swirling branches of flowers, throughout the entire piece. The handle is a serpent with a snake coming out of his mouth. The inside has a rich thick gold shine, lightly worn on the bottom. It is lidded with a working hinge. Overall a good look in good condition, it measures 7 ¾ inches tall. It weighs just over 1.200 kilos.
